About me
I'm Emily Powers — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) and a Board Certified Coach in training, with full LMHC licensure and BCC credentials close on the horizon. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, and life transitions.
My primary tool for trauma is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), supported by somatic work. For complex trauma, we integrate internal family systems and a person-centered approach.
I love EMDR because it is a neurological treatment that differs substantially from talk therapy. That's why working together is often a good fit for people who have been in therapy for years: you understand everything cognitively, but you're still reacting. That is where our work begins.
I specialize in trauma partly because I've lived it. I know what it is like to feel raw, out of control, and unsure which way is up. I also know what it takes to come back. Holding someone through that exact turn, from raw to steady, is what I love most about this work. I'll hold the container with warmth and witness you fully, but I'm here for movement. If we're working together, we are moving towards healing and change. Your goals always come from you. We become a team that gets you there.
My own way here
I treat trauma partly because I've lived it. Here's the short version of how I got here, and why I built my practice around movement, nature, and real change.

You don't have to arrive with it all figured out. You just have to arrive.
Whether we're coaching or in clinical work, pacing and consent come first. Nothing is forced.
No template. I build the work around you, your goals, and the season you're actually in.
If I'm not the right person, you get a direct, competent referral — not left to figure it out alone.
Values & mission
A note on why this practice exists, and how it holds together.
The mission
Our mission is to help make the world a better place, one person at a time. We believe individual healing is where that change begins, and healing happens through active, consent-driven partnership, not passive conversation.
Whether through trauma-informed counseling, coaching, or immersive intensives, treatment here is collaborative, respectful, and built to create real, lasting change.
01 — What this is
It's a structured, held container for those in the middle of a life transition. This is a partnership that helps you recenter and define an individualized plan, so you can move through the hard season with steady support and real momentum toward the life you want.
Actively rebuilding clarity on identity, values, and next steps. This is focused work with direction, not open-ended, indefinite talk.
90 days creates accountability and momentum. Together we define and commit, so you get clear on the changes you're making and the person you're building toward.
No diagnosis, no treatment plan, no insurance paper trail. It stays accessible regardless of your state of residence.
A structured space to keep showing up for yourself. Not just talk, but someone to help you find a plan and walk with you through it.
Ninety days isn't the deadline. It's the container for real change. 90 days gives us time to recenter, define goals, and facilitate your growth into the person you've always wanted to be.
The work is grounded in real clinical training. Designed by someone with a master's degree in clinical counseling psychology, this program integrates coaching psychology, motivational interviewing, person-centered and strengths-based approaches. All work will be trauma-informed.
The safety net most coaches can't offer — and most therapists don't position as a coaching product.

Coaching questions
A focused 90-day coaching program, 12 weekly sessions, designed for people navigating a major life transition who want a clear start, a clear end, and real movement. It is built and held by a licensed mental health provider, so what surfaces is met with genuine clinical depth. The investment is $3,000.
Yes. Coaching carries no license restriction, so it is available to clients anywhere in the U.S. or internationally, delivered online.
Coaching is forward-moving and action-oriented and is not mental-health treatment. Because it is held by a licensed therapist, anything clinical that surfaces can be recognized and addressed — but the work itself is coaching, available worldwide. If you're in WA or HI and want clinical care, see Therapy & Counseling.
The program is a $3,000 investment for the full 90 days. Payment plans of $1,000 per month are available. If a client would like to continue coaching afterward, sessions are $175 moving forward.
Yes, we can arrange individualized support. If you're going through a breakup, see Heartbreak Recovery Coaching. Otherwise, please email to discuss a consultation to determine a coaching relationship.
03 — Next step to book
A short discovery call to make sure the program is the right fit for your needs.
An initial assessment. This is your first session, and it helps us define your goals, identify the barriers in your way, and begin movement into your next chapter.
Where you are right now
Maybe it's been days. Maybe it's been a couple of months and you thought you'd feel better by now. Either way, there's a reason this is taking longer than you expected. Attachment is biological, not just emotional. Losing a partner is more than just sadness, and something to “get over.” It can feel like a loss of self.
01 — What this is
Not a pep talk, and not a list of things you should be doing. It's weekly, individualized support through one of the most disorienting seasons of your life.
A steady place to bring the shock, the grief, the relief, and everything in between. Every week, for as long as the hardest part lasts.
Finances, living arrangements, pets, shared friends. We sort out what has to be decided now and what can wait.
Preparing for the talks you dread, setting boundaries with your ex, and asking for what you need without losing yourself in the process.
Once the ground feels steadier, we get clear on your values and the kind of life that would excite you again.
This isn't about villainizing your ex. It's about making meaning of what happened, finding acceptance, and moving forward. With the right support, this journey can take you somewhere better than you ever thought possible.
02 — How the 90 days unfold
Healing isn't linear, and we won't pretend it is. But it does tend to move through a few seasons, and we start with whichever one you're in.
Phase one
Some people come to us before anything has been decided. You go back and forth, you are worn out, and it hurts either way. We look honestly at the relationship and walk through what staying would ask of you and what leaving would ask of you, with someone who isn't pushing you toward either answer.
Phase two
Early on, the goal can be as simple as getting through the week. Showing up to work. Eating something. Going for a walk. We work through the shock, sort out the logistics, and give your nervous system somewhere to recover after every hard conversation with your ex.
Phase three
Then the question becomes who you want to be now. We get clear on your values and the life that fits them, and then you start living it. The class you've been meaning to take. The friends you drifted away from. The trip your ex never would have taken.
A breakup can stir up much older pain, especially after emotional abuse or a relationship that left you believing you aren't good enough or aren't lovable. This work is trauma-informed and grounded in real clinical training, so those beliefs get met with care instead of glossed over.
03 — Who it's for
The investment

Your questions
Neither. Heartbreak recovery isn't only for after a breakup, it's for anyone in heartbreak. That might mean you're still in the relationship, trying to work through a hard decision, processing something like infidelity, or “working on things.” It might mean you're navigating the more traditional aftermath of a relationship that's already ended.
Some clients start while they're still in their relationship. Some start days after a breakup, and some start months later when they're still struggling. We begin wherever you are.
Sessions are $175 each and you pay as you go, over about 90 days. At the end we look together at where you are, and you can keep going, change focus, or wrap up. The first consultation is free.
This investment is for your future, your mental health, and your well-being during one of life's hardest seasons. It guarantees warm and individualized support from someone dedicated to your healing. You'll be supported by someone with a background in clinical mental health counseling, formal training in couples counseling, and a specialization in life transitions. We are here to sit with every nuance of your specific situation. (And we won't get tired of you talking about your ex!)
Our approach draws on research-backed coaching psychology, including interventions informed by motivational interviewing, CBT, and behavioral activation. Each client also receives a thorough assessment and screening for mental health factors that might warrant clinical care. Heartbreak recovery isn't just paying to vent. Support is dedicated, individualized, and thoughtfully designed to help you move through this time.
We're happy to work with you flexibly, as long as we have a clear plan in place together. Weekly sessions for 90 days is how this support is designed and where clients tend to see the most momentum. That said, we can adjust to sessions every two weeks if needed, and in some cases explore a once-a-month cadence; though that pace can make consistent progress more difficult. Let's talk it through and find what's sustainable for you.
No. This is coaching, which is forward-moving support rather than clinical mental health treatment. That said, because it's held by a licensed therapist, we evaluate for mental health factors that might be impacting your recovery, such as clinical depression, anxiety, or post traumatic symptoms.
We will ALWAYS make a referral if needed and provide the explanation why. And yes, coaching can also be done alongside psychotherapy. If you're in WA or HI and know you want clinical care, see Therapy & Counseling.
Anywhere. Coaching isn't restricted by licensure, so sessions are held online and open to clients across the U.S. and internationally.
Yes. We love and embrace the full diversity of our clients. Our clinical training equips us to work with a wide range of relationship structures and identities, including non-monogamous, queer, and sapphic partnerships. Whether your relationship looks traditional or doesn't fit a conventional mold, you deserve care that sees and affirms who you are.
Please reach out for support right away. If you're in the U.S. and thinking about ending your life or worried about your safety, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time, or call 911. Outside the U.S., please contact your local emergency number. You can also reach out to a therapist licensed in your state for additional support.
Coaching isn't equipped to provide crisis care, but once you're safe, we'd be glad to talk with you about what kind of support might be the right fit. Transitions like this can be genuinely hard, and you deserve support and safety through them.

Specializations
I specialize in treating trauma and PTSD, life transitions, and mood disorders — alongside more common conditions such as anxiety and depression. My approach is integrative and person-centered, built on EMDR, somatic work, and internal family systems. I'm often a great fit when you've talked something through for years but still react.
A neurological treatment, not just talk therapy. EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for reprocessing trauma, stressful stimuli, and the patterns your body still reacts to. It's a good fit for those who understand what happened to them yet feel confused about why they're still reacting.
Divorce, career pivots, identity shifts, grief. I meet you in the in-between that no one prepares you for.
Depression, bipolar, and other mood concerns, met with clinical depth, expertise, monitoring, and warmth. I'm here to help you stabilize and create the life you've dreamed of, while managing symptoms.
An assessment is included to see if working together is a good fit for your needs. I will always refer out for conditions that are outside of my scope.
Because therapy involves prospective mental health clients, inquiries are handled through a HIPAA-conscious process. To protect your confidentiality, therapy inquiries are taken by phone or email directly — not through online booking.
All services are cash pay — no insurance, full privacy. Many clients choose cash pay precisely for the discretion it allows. Superbills can be provided upon request for clients to negotiate directly with their insurance providers.
Former client, or experiencing economic hardship? Reach out to inquire about reduced-rate sessions. Reduced rates may be negotiated based on availability, and you're welcome to be added to a waitlist.

Trauma and PTSD, life transitions, and mood disorders, alongside more common conditions such as anxiety and depression. The primary method for treatment of trauma is EMDR, supported by somatic work and internal family systems.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a neurological, evidence-based treatment for trauma. It is very different than traditional talk therapy. This is often a good fit for people who understand their experience but still react to it and feel stuck.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to reduce the body's stress or arousal response to triggering stimuli, helping the brain reprocess and rewire difficult experiences more efficiently. It is distinct from talk therapy and is backed by a substantial body of research. EMDR is recognized by the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association as an effective treatment for PTSD. I have been fully trained through an EMDRIA-certified program.
Yes. For accelerated processing, an EMDR intensive concentrates the work into a condensed, carefully paced format in person in Hawaii. There is a heavy focus on assessment, safety, and stabilization before an intensive format, and EMDR, including intensives, is always considered a medical treatment. Learn more about the EMDR 2-Day Intensive.
Sessions are $175 and cash pay. There is no diagnosis on record unless you want one, and no insurance paper trail. Superbills can be provided upon request for those who want to negotiate with their providers directly for reimbursement.

EMDR reaches what insight alone cannot. It works on the response your body still holds, not just the story in your head.
Intensives are most efficient for acute traumatic events, but can also chip away at complex trauma over time. Assessment is included as part of your intensive package, working through multiple targets.
An initial assessment and consultation determines whether the intensive format is clinically appropriate for you before we begin.

01 — The positioning
This experience serves as a powerful step on your healing journey after traumatic exposure. Held on a Blue Zones coast, this beachfront retreat integrates green space immersion, natural movement, and rest — the setting itself is part of the medicine. If you're looking to process or heal from trauma more deeply, an EMDR intensive or a referral to a trauma-informed psychotherapy provider may be the right next step.
Leave with a deeper sense of how it has shaped your patterns, responses, and relationships.
Licensed clinicians are there to help you identify your triggers and explore the tools available to you. Psychoeducation on modalities such as EMDR, exposure, somatics, and nervous system regulation is designed to give you information from someone who hears your individual story. We cannot administer these interventions on-site, but would be happy to explore support following the retreat.
Every day, participants meet with a licensed therapist to help create and support their individual healing process.
Connecting with others who understand what you're going through — healing that takes place in community.
Healing moves differently in a place this alive — away from the noise, surrounded by people who understand.
Whether you're in the aftermath of a single event — a car accident, a one-time assault — or carrying the cumulative weight of years of relational or developmental trauma, the modalities and pacing are thoughtfully structured to meet you where you are.
Every guest has individualized support from their assigned therapist each day. Consent is central throughout, and activities such as yoga are trauma-informed.
A chance to better understand your experience, build resourcing, and leave with greater clarity and capacity than on arrival. We provide thoughtful psychoeducation on trauma and nervous-system regulation in a restorative, natural environment — and we let people connect, be human, and heal.
